Lorry Crash Seizes 5.4 Million Meth Tablets

Massive Meth Seizure After Crash

A lorry carrying millions of methamphetamine tablets crashed after a rear tyre burst, scattering its illegal cargo across Highway 4 (Phetkasem Road) in Kui Buri district, Prachuap Khiri Khan province. The incident occurred around 7:30 a.m. on 7 September near kilometre marker 271+700, close to Ban Samrong in Sam Krathai subdistrict. Police and rescue teams found a white Isuzu truck with Bangkok plates resting against a guardrail, with its rear tyres blown. No driver or passengers were present at the scene, but wooden planks and foam containers littered the road, revealing bundles of methamphetamine inside.

Investigation and Evidence Collection

Officers from Sam Krathai Police Station, Highway Police, and provincial forensic investigators secured the area and conducted a detailed inspection. Authorities discovered 54 foam boxes, each containing 100,000 methamphetamine tablets stamped with WY and 999, totaling 5,440,000 tablets. The seized cargo was taken to Sam Krathai Police Station for counting and documentation in the presence of Kui Buri district chief Aram Yanakaew, local narcotics suppression officials, and senior provincial police officers. This represents one of the largest methamphetamine seizures in the province in recent years.

Ongoing Manhunt and Route Investigation

Preliminary investigations indicate the lorry had travelled from northern Thailand, passing through Suphan Buri and Kanchanaburi provinces, before heading south. The rear tyre burst led to the crash, prompting authorities to review CCTV footage along the route to identify the driver and any accomplices involved in the trafficking operation. Police have urged the public to report any suspicious activity linked to the truck and warned that individuals involved in transporting or distributing illicit drugs will face severe legal consequences.
